Mecca Nelson is the CEO of Mecca’s City of Wholeness’s the YOMA Method, a revolutionary practice which incorporates Vinyasa yoga, mix martial arts, mindfulness and meditation. Mecca’s City of Wholeness is a Minority Women Owned Business Enterprise and Author.
Her health and wellness journey started over a decade ago while living a military lifestyle. Her late husband served in the United States Army. Unfortunately, she lost her husband while he was serving the country during a mission in Iraq. After suffering this tragic loss, she and her daughter were forced to support themselves, forging new pathways of strength in order to conquer life moving forward as a Goldstar family
Motivational Speaker, Entrepreneur, Minority Woman Owned Business Enterprise, Contract Vendor with Department of Education, and Advocate. She provides life skills to youth and adults, and host workshops on cultivating healthy relationships between parents and their children, and also discusses topics, including but limited to self-care, massage techniques, professional development courses for organizations, consultation, and youth empowerment. Mecca is the Community Leaders/Pretzel Kids Trainer and work with youth that parents are incarcerated .
She has received numerous accolades and awards, including recognition from elected officials, i.e. Borough President Eric Adams, Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright, and others for her tireless efforts in empowering the community. Mecca has been recognized for continued partnership and collaboration throughout Brooklyn and received partnership certification for her community involvement by Barbara Freeman, Executive Superintendent for the 13th District of the New York City Department of Education.
